The Making of La Casita

The University of Florida’s Samuel Proctor Oral History Program has conducted hundreds of interviews and collected images and articles on Black and Latinx history at the university. The two ethnic studies buildings on campus, The Institute of Black Culture and The Institute of Hispanic Latino Cultures “La Casita,” served the growing student population with student programming, events, and academic support. The rich history of the activism it took to create these institutes is encaptured in two documentaries Join the Samuel Proctor Oral History Program for a live YouTube Premiere where viewers will be able to live chat with producers, writers, and students involved in “The Making of the Institute of Hispanic/Latino Cultures” aka “La Casita” Tune in Friday, May 15 at 7 pm!
